Zach's stomach is finally beginning to feel better. He has been taking the prevacid for two weeks now and I am beginning to see a difference. I spoke to the doctor today and he said to slowly take him off the zantac, which he was getting three times a day. His sleeping has gotten better too. We have started putting him into bed between 8 and 9 and he is beginning to go 6-8 hours between feedings. He is still waking up and crying until I pick him up and put him on me so that he can sleep on his stomach. However, I am not sure if it is now becoming a habit that I should break. Although the doctor told me not to worry about it until he is 6 months everyone I speak to tells me to break it now. The biggest problem with it is when he sleeps on me I don't sleep, so I am totally exhausted.
It's hard to believe that he will be three months on Friday. There are times that I look at him and can't believe that time has gone by so fast and then there are other times where I feel like he has been a part of my life forever. As an early childhood teacher, I am fascinated with how early language begins and all the changes in his development that have already began to happen. It is so interesting to hear him cooing and screeching. When I sit him in front of a mirror, he has a whole conversation with himself. It's so cute. He is holding his head up on his own and investigating his hands, which he is very interested in.
My husband and I are taking Zach to New York in two weeks to visit my family. It will be our first experience flying with him. I hope that he is good on the plane. I am looking forward to going and seeing my family. My parents are always a big help with him, especially during the night. I will finally be able to catch up on some sleep. We are going to see my brothers and grandparents who haven't seen Zach since the bris. They are not going to be able to get over how big he has gotten. I always love seeing my parents, but it's hard when we come back. I get a taste of what it would be like if we lived close by to them. There help would be huge, which at times I think we really need.

I can just sit and watch Zach all day. He is so cute, especially when he laughs and smiles at the stuffed animals. He coos to them and is just beginning to realize that he can use his hands to hold onto them. He has a whole group of stuffed animal friends. There is Mr. Frog, octopus and a stuffed bear that sings I've Been Working on the Railroad. Then, there are the fish on the mobile in his swing. He sticks out his tongue at them and tries to touch them. His new favorite thing to do is stick his whole hand in his mouth. I wonder if it tastes good.

Zach had his first playmate with Dylan today!!. Dylan is three weeks younger than Zach and my husband and I met his parents in our Lamaze class. Zach and I went over to their house and we all went for a long walk. It was nice getting out and having some adult conversations.

I can't believe that Zach is already 11 weeks old. Wow, time goes by fast. His head is getting stronger and he isn't such a bobblehead anymore. He is beginning to make the motion as to wanting to roll over but isn't strong enough to push himself over yet. His legs do not stop moving. Even when he is sleeping they are constantly kicking around. He is smiling and cooing and even beginning to laugh, which is so cute. His stomach is up and down. He is still taking the prevacid and zantac. It seems to be a lot worse at night then during the day. Zach always starts out sleeping in the crib, however somewhere manages to end up sleeping on me at some point during the night.

We went back to the doctor today for a weight check and to discuss different medications. He hasn't been eating as much as usual lately and seems to still be very uncomfortable. The doctor put him on Prevacid. He said to stick with the Zantac for another two weeks until the Prevacid starts working. I hope it helps. Zach has had to sleep on top of me for the past few nights since he needs to have pressure on his stomach to make him feel better and I am scared to put him in his crib on his stomach because of SIDS.

Took Zach to the doctor yesterday to get his first round of shots. I cant believe how many shots they give a baby at one time. He was really good while he was getting them and was in a good mood when he got home. I thought that, he was going to be fine all day, but I was wrong. About two hours after getting home, he had a fever and wanted to be held for the rest of the day. He didn't want to eat and would scream when I put him on the changing table to change him. Fortunately my mother in law was here to help. He fell asleep on me at about 7:00 pm and didn't wake up until 6:00 am. He is now feeling a lot better. Definitely not looking forward to round two during the four month check- up.

Today Zach had a rough day. His reflux has been really bothering him. We went back to the doctor and he increased the amount of Zantac that he should take daily. He also switched his formula to Alimentum. I hope it works. He said to call him at the end of the week with an update. I hate it when he is not feeling well. It is so sad. He is such a good baby, but when he doesn't feel well, he just wants to be held and needs pressure put on his stomach. I just want him to feel better.

We tried introducing Zach and our two dogs today. It was kind of an interesting experience. Both dogs were scared of him and want nothing to do with him. They smell his feet for a few seconds, then walk away. I feel bad for them. They are used to getting all of our attention and seem very sad. We are going to have to figure out a way to make them feel better. Zach just stared at them, but no real interest. One of them is white and he can see her very well, especially when she is lying on the black carpet.

I took Zach to the airport with me today to pick up my parents who are visiting from New York. They haven't seen him since he was ten days old and can't believe how big he got. It's so nice to have them here. They are going to help with the nighttime feedings and I can't wait to catch up on some sleep. Its great having some extra hands around the house during the day while my husband is at work. It's usually impossible to find time to walk the dogs when I am home by myself. Having my parents here also gives me some time to work on mommybar. I usually find myself up late at night adding blogs and returning emails. I am sure its going to be a busy week. This weekend my husband and I are going to get out by ourselves for the first time since Zach was born. My parents are going to baby-sit while we go to see Blue Man Group. I can't wait.
